The hour long show's name has not been revealed yet, but will cover Houston-area and regional topics with the listener calls woven through the discussion the station tells me.
Craig Cohen has been hired as the host/producer. Cohen most recently worked as the Public Affairs Director for Illinois Public Media at WILL. Before that he was a host/producer at WITF, Inc. in the central Pennsylvania region according to his LinkedIn profile.
The station says two current reporters at the radio station, Shomial Ahmad and Edel Howlin, will also serve as producers for the show. The goal is to hire one more producer.
Emily Binetti, Director of Communications for Houston Public Media tells mikemcguff.com that feedback on the show's pilot program from a consultant found Cohen to be “a very good, comfortable interviewer" and the overall show to be “conversational, welcoming and energetic.”
The show will air live Monday through Friday when it debuts. More details will be revealed by the station soon.
As far as Houston shows, Houston Public Media also produces The Front Row for Classical 97.1 KUHA (it re-airs at night on KUHF).
