KHOU 11 has been honored with a fourth straight ‘Overall Excellence’ Murrow Award for 2012. The station won a total of eight awards, including Best Website for KHOU.com:

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has recognized KHOU 11 with eight Edward R. Murrow Awards – the most for any large market television station in the Texas-Oklahoma Region – including Overall Excellence for the fourth consecutive year and Best Website for KHOU.com.

“For a station to win Murrow Awards in eight of 13 categories is a true achievement and such an honor,” said Susan McEldoon, KHOU 11 President and General Manager. “These awards, highlighted by Overall Excellence four years in a row, are testimony to the degree of talent and dedication of our entire staff.”

In addition to Overall Excellence and Best Website, the team at KHOU 11 was also recognized in the categories of Video Breaking News Coverage, Video Feature Reporting, Video Reporting Hard News, Video News Documentary, Video Sports Reporting and Use of Video.

“An Edward R. Murrow Award is a symbol of excellence in our industry,” said Phillip Bruce, KHOU 11 Executive News Director. “The high standards of journalism these awards represent are what our team strives to uphold each and every day.”

The RTDNA has been honoring journalists with Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971, and this year, 645 regional winners were selected from more than 3,500 entries nationwide. Winners of regional Murrow Awards go on to compete for national honors later in the year.
