Gabe Gutierrez is the most recent and before him Mark Greenblatt, but the most famous KHOU 11 reporter to go to the networks is Dan Rather.
The folks at Mediabistro put together a great interview with the former CBS News anchor. In it, Rather remembers his KHOU 11 days and his big break with Hurricane Carla. This is such a good video, I wanted to put it in its own post.
One of the funniest lines from Dan is: "Their [KHOU's] ratings were so poor [in 1960 when he arrived], that we were at least the fifth or sixth station in a three station market. I was brought in to be the news director, which basically meant I was the director of myself, because we had no other full-time employees."
