KPRC 2 reporter Mariza Reyes exits

Heard some rumors that KPRC 2 reporter Mariza Reyes was leaving the station. At the end of last week, those rumors were confirmed when her bio was removed from the station's news team page.

According to that bio, Reyes joined KPRC in September 2006. She reported for the morning show.

Before Houston, Reyes worked at WLUC-TV in Marquette, Michigan, WJFW-TV in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, N.M., KGMB-TV in Honolulu, Hawaii and WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio.

Reyes is a DePaul University graduate and was nominated for an Emmy in Columbus. She also won three awards from the Society of Professional Journalists while working in Hawaii. Her family lives in Chicago.

My attempt to reach Reyes was unsuccessful and KPRC declined comment.

  3. Apparently the new news director, Deborah C., didn't appreciate her. The morning executive producer quit since she was passed up for promotion. Rumor has it that no one liked the morning executive producer.

  5. Rumor also has it that she's taking her talents to South Beach (she's heading to Miami), and truth to this?

  7. @11:03pm - I don't think she is going to Miami, but if she does pull a LeBron and go to South Beach it would be a better market for her.

  8. She always seemed lost and a lot of times it seemed like she forgot what she was going to say. It was rough seeing her on tv. I don't think reporting is her calling.
