Over the past few days, you might have noticed a new face on KTRK 13. WOAI reporter Demond Fernandez has taken I-10 from San Antonio to Houston to join Eyewitness News as its latest reporter addition.

According to Fernandez's WOAI online bio, he arrived in San Antonio in July 2005. He previously worked at WEYI Newscenter 25 in Flint, Michigan, as a weekend anchor, crime reporter, “On Your Side” investigator and Newscenter 25’s “Consumer Watchdog.”

Doesn't sound like he had much time for sleep wearing all of those hats and shovelling snow to get his car out to go to work.

Fernandez got his start WSYM Fox 47 News in Lansing, Michigan as a general assignment reporter by day and a student at Thomas Cooley Law School by night. I commend him for that because if you go into media...it's good to have a backup.

His bio also says he was honored with a Michigan Association of Broadcaster’s Award for investigative reporting by exposing beauty supply shops that were illegally selling cosmetic contact lenses to kids and adults across mid-Michigan.

So let me say...welcome to Houston Demond.
