XFINITY finally 'replaces' Comcast on my cable box

The other night I fell asleep on the couch watching TV after a grueling blogging session. Something woke me up. The TV was on, but the cable box was off. Then the box turned back on and some crazy numbers were flashing on the box's screen.

Is this a dream? Are the Mayan prophecies taking place a year early? Is my cable possessed? Did I not pay the bill?

All of those scenarios stormed through my head, but then I just realized I was getting my promised XFINITY upgrade.

I've blogged about the XFINITY Houston upgrade earlier this year. Many TV viewers in the Bayou City area already have it. In case you are an XFINITY 'late bloomer' like myself, here are some screenshots I grabbed for you.

The guide display is obviously different and very blue. As you can see there is an additional way to display an individual channel's programming. You get that screen by pressing guide twice. Guide is no longer an exit button, you really have to use the 'exit' button below it.

The On Demand screen is way better than the previous version. The old screen was not very 'elegant' as an MBA candidate might say.

The good news is that all of the previously recorded shows on my DVR are still there. The only question is how do you dump those shows to DVD now? "Copy to VCR" was a feature on the old Comcast system...not seeing that now. I've got some of my old KIAH 39 News stories on there and they need to be archived. Oh...that and the entire season of Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami.
