Corpus Christi TV is getting a new anchor I'm told. Recent KIII 3 arrival, John Thomas Kobos, will helm the morning newscast.
He previously spent three and a half years in Fresno at KFSN 30. Before that, he was at KALB 5 in Alexandria, LA for two years.
In these markets, John has covered everything from the military (Ft. Polk) and Hurricanes Katrina/Rita to California forest fires, medical marijuana and the gay marriage debate.
Now Houston readers will notice the familiar Kobos last name. That's because his dad is former KTRK 13 reporter and current assistant news director Don Kobos (my former boss).
"As you might expect [I'm] happy he's back in Texas and close to Houston," proud papa Don Kobos told the mikemcguff.com blog.
The elder Kobos is no stranger to this blog. All the way back in 2006, I blogged about a lunch I had at Kahn's Deli in the Rice Village. In that post, I mentioned the fact that Don has a sandwich named after him there!
