HPD: One ton of marijuana found on lettuce truck

A Houston Police Department officer thought he was just making a routine traffic stop Sunday night, instead he found what sounds like the Cheech and Chong of the produce world. Talk about veging out dude!

HPD reports all this went down at the 13400 block of the East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) near Market Street about 4:45pm Sunday. Police say the 18-wheeler had both lettuce and 1,995 pounds of mary jane aboard. According to investigators, the cargo of the truck had an estimated street value of $3.1 million. Wow, I didn't know my salad was worth that much cash!

Lettuce and pot are both green...maybe this was an environmental minded haul?

Cops say the driver (and only dude on board) was arrested with a felony possession of marijuana. No word on what lettuce eating vegetarians want to charge him with. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
