New HISD press person a San Antonio TV reporter

HISD tells me former San Antonio TV news reporter Leila Walsh will be in the Communication Services department.

HISD has been making a bunch of hires in its press department lately. Here is another one I believe, due to the fact it is being reported a current San Antonio TV reporter is leaving to become a Houston Independent School District writer.

Jeanne Jakle of the San Antonio Express-News writes that WOAI 4 reporter Leila Walsh is leaving that market at the end of this year to come to HISD:

She has accepted a job in Houston – as senior writer for the Houston School District. “I’ll be writing letters, op-ed pieces and speeches for the district...” READ FULL STORY

Walsh already has a Houston TV connection. According to Jakle, her boyfriend is KTRK 13 photographer Wes Sewell. I do not know him. He started working there after I left.

According to Walsh's WOAI online bio, she joined the station in July of 2005. Before that she was in Syracuse at WSYR-TV and NewsRadio 570 WSYR. She started TV at WUTR in Utica and is a graduate of Syracuse University.

  1. That's it, HISD. Don't invest in better teachers and programs to educate students -- hire more spin doctors to lie to the public about how good your eductaion is.... pathetic.
