KPRC 2 general manager Larry Blackerby to leave station

A news release issued today says KPRC 2 general manager Larry Blackerby is leaving the station for a new gig with McGraw-Hill Broadcasting at WRTV the ABC-affiliate station in Indianapolis. He starts January 3, 2011:

McGraw-Hill Broadcasting, a unit of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP), today announced the appointment of Larry Blackerby as vice president and general manager of WRTV, the ABC-affiliate station in Indianapolis, effective Jan. 3, 2011. In this position, Mr. Blackerby will be responsible for the strategy and day-to-day editorial and business operations of WRTV and the station's digital properties.

"Larry brings to this position a long and consistent record of ratings and revenue growth at both network affiliates and independent stations across the country," said Darrell K. Brown, president of McGraw-Hill Broadcasting. "We look forward to tapping into his experience, leadership and energy at WRTV."

Mr. Blackerby has more than 30 years of experience in television markets around the country, including Palm Springs, CA; Jacksonville, FL; Jackson, MI; and Greensboro-Winston-Salem-High Point, NC. Most recently, he was vice president and general manager of KPRC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Houston, which he joined in 2006.

Mr. Blackerby holds a bachelor's degree in Radio-Television-Film from Indiana State University and an associate degree in Applied Science from Lake Land College.

Mr. Blackerby succeeds Donald Lundy, who is retiring at the end of 2010 after a distinguished career at WRTV and The McGraw-Hill Companies.
