KIAH 39 is without an entertainment reporter right now. The former reporter to hold that spot has skipped out of the Bayou City.Turns out Hailey Frances started a new main anchoring gig at Tribune owned WXMI Fox 17 in Grand Rapids, Michigan Monday.
"I am really excited about the opportunity to become a main anchor, and it was an opportunity to stay with a company that believes in who I am and what I have to offer," Frances told the mikemcguff.com blog. "10 p.m. here I come!"
While she wasn't in Houston for very long, Frances did make the most out of her time here.
"Houston was a whirlwind and a blast," she told me. "It was a career launching opportunity for me in a top market and one of the coolest cities in the U.S. I'm so lucky to have grown my skills there on-air."
I don't usually talk about TV talent agents, but I did notice that Frances is represented by Nancy Shafran of No Whining Talent. Why is that important? Shafran was news director of KPRC 2 from the late 1990s into the early 2000s. I did not know she was now a TV agent. Who better to negotiate with a news director than a former news director I guess.
Congrats Hailey.

That's a shame.
ReplyDeleteShe was the only reporter I looked forward to seeing on 39.
Great features and entertainment beat style...
Her fill-in hosting duties as anchor far surpassed Mia Gradney's, in my opinion.
Besides Katishia Cosley, I am a fan of Hailey Frances. I made sure to offer her best wishes via Twitter. Best of luck to Hailey up in Michigan.
