Former News 24 Houston news director featured in newspaper for 'colorful existence'

The things you just wouldn't guess.  Jeff Alan was the former news director of News 24 Houston.  Remember that Time Warner Cable news outfit from the early 2000s? The Oregonian has a three part series on the newsman's very interesting life story (from part 1):
