Ryan Despain, a friend of mine, is into under water cave diving. He takes his Nikon D70 all over the world in a waterproof casing and surfaces with some really good photos like this one.He told me that some of these caves are so large that divers can actually get lost while exploring them. They have to use a special line to trace their path.
In some instances, the caves were above ground at one time. I believe he once told me some under water caves near Mexico actually had cave drawings on the walls. The water didn't wash away human history in this case.
