I produced a story for Jeff Ehling that turned out to be a good one. It was about how the change in your pocket could be worth more than face value.
I went with Skyj (photographer) to US Coins and Jewelry on the Katy Freeway a couple of weeks ago to shoot the story. That was in between hurricanes and the World Series (all events that make Nov. sweeps difficult). We were there around 4 hours shooting this story. Why so long? Because of the set up and coin shots. All of the coins shown in the story (and in this slideshow) took a lot of time to tape.
The dime shown in this blog post is off-center and worth around $10-15. Not bad. But we saw stuff that was worth so much more. These mistakes can net you a lot of extra coinage. Think in the hundreds of dollars range. We also saw a rare coin, a 1922 Matte Proof Dollar, that was worth $250,000! That one wasn't a mistake, it was just old and valuable.
