New Houston Art Weeks has KLOL connection

Doug Harris, who is featured in my 101 KLOL "Runaway Radio" documentary as one of the best promotion directors in radio history, is starting Houston Art Weeks through his StellaNova Foundation.

By the way, “Runaway Radio” has a screening at Houston’s iconic River Oaks Theatre on October 1, 2025, at 7:15 pm with the reunited Jennifer Reyna and Outlaw Dave.

Here is more about the Houston Art Weeks event:

Houston, Texas —  The StellaNova Foundation (SNF), a Houston-based 501(c)(3) organization that funds mental health resources for those without access to treatment or care, has set the dates for the inaugural installment of Houston Art Weeks. Styled in the manner of the Holiday Shopping Card, Houston Restaurant Weeks and other seasonal consumer campaigns benefiting non-profits,  Houston Art Weeks (HAW) will run October 10-19, 2025, in advance of the holiday gift season.

HAW spotlights some of the city’s most notable art initiatives, including the Bayou City Art Festival (October 10-13) and the Washington Avenue Art District’s Second Saturday (October 11). On Saturday, October 18, from 9 AM to 6:00 PM, the Foundation will stage a pop-up art exhibition and sale at the Montrose Center, located at 401 Branard St., 2nd Floor, Houston, TX 77006.

Doug Harris, StellaNova Foundation’s executive director, says the primary goal of HAW is to stimulate awareness and patronage of Houston-based artists. “The depth, breadth, and growth of Houston’s art community is one of our city’s most notable cultural achievements. The purpose of

Houston Art Weeks is to connect these artisans, along with the galleries and studios who serve them, with a new group of art enthusiasts and collectors,” he said.

Harris notes that events like the Bayou City Arts Festival and the Second Saturday observances make connections between artists and collectors accessible and less intimidating. “There are so many opportunities for serious collectors, as well as the ‘art-curious’, to enjoy an up-close,

personal look at art and those who bring it to life. If we can simplify the process of encountering art and discovering new artists, people will come to regard art as an ideal gift for both art novices and lifelong collectors.”

Participating artists and galleries will pay a registration fee of $15 and agree to donate a percentage of their sales during HAW to the Foundation. The StellaNova Foundation has designated the Montrose Center as the primary beneficiary of HAW 2025.

The Foundation plans an aggressive marketing outreach to spotlight the artists and their work, whose participation will be spotlighted on the HAW pages at www.StellaNovaFoundation.org.

Artists and galleries interested in HAW can learn more on the SNF website, where registration continues through September 30, 2025. Once confirmed for the HAW 2025 roster, artists will conduct all customary business operations—managing all transactions, collections, sales tax payments, deliveries, and installations— and then fund their allocated donations to SNF by December 31, 2025.
