"Last day at CW39," Kovar posted.  "Three years, countless stories, and new friends. My departure wasn’t my call, and I’m not sure what’s next for me professionally, but I’ll soon be ready for the next adventure. Stay tuned for updates."

He joined CW39 Houston in August 2022, bringing with him nearly two decades of broadcast journalism experience across Texas and beyond.

Before joining KIAH, Kovar spent nearly four years as an anchor/reporter for KRIS 6 Corpus Christi.

He went on to spend two stints at KXXV in Waco, first as a reporter and morning anchor from 2005 to 2011, then returning in 2016 as an evening anchor. In between, Kovar anchored and produced at WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia, before moving to CNN’s National Content Center in Atlanta.

During his time in Roanoke, Kovar built lasting friendships with colleagues Alison Parker and Adam Ward, who were tragically killed during a live broadcast in 2015. Every year on August 26, Seth wears teal and maroon ribbons in their honor—teal for Alison’s favorite color and maroon for Adam’s love of Virginia Tech athletics.

The Plano native began his career in 2003 at KXII in Sherman as a weekend reporter and weekday photographer.

A proud second-generation Texas Longhorn, Kovar graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
