Alex Cammarata leaves NewsWest 9 KWES Midland-Odessa

Alex Cammarata has left NewsWest 9 KWES Midland-Odessa as of August 2025, where he served as a 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. evening anchor.

Here is Cammarata's goodbye message that was released by NewsWest 9 KWES:

"Thank you, West Texas.

Just wanted to share a few thoughts and gratitude as I prepare to say goodbye to NewsWest 9 and all the amazing viewers who tune in every night to watch.

For the last 4 years, I can truly say I lived out my dream. Bringing you the latest in the community every night at 5 and 10 was beyond special, and I’ll forever be grateful for it.

None of this could have ever been possible without God, my family, friends, co-workers and every single person who supported me along the way.

We’ve all heard stories of people getting doubted or no one believing in them, but I’ve been blessed to say that it’s been the complete opposite in my life. I’ve had nothing but positivity and blessings all around.

I started this journey as a weekend sports anchor, and every single opportunity was the culmination of the wonderful folks who invested in me!

You’ve helped our station share stories of hope, kindness, opportunity, and adversity, and strived to keep the community safe and informed.

Thank you to the incredible, loving and loyal viewers who take time out of their day to watch every night and work tirelessly to showcase how wonderful the Permian Basin community is.

Thank you for your continued love and words of affirmation. I’ll miss all the invitations to community events, volunteering for change and saying hello to you while out and about!

West Texas will always hold a special place in my heart and I will never forget how you treated a guy from New Jersey with pure love and respect."

Cammarata served as an evening anchor for NewsWest 9 KWES since August 22, 2022. He first joined the station in August 2021 as a sports reporter/anchor, spending a year covering local athletics before making the move to the PM news desk.

A graduate of the University of Scranton, Cammarata previously worked at the New York Post as an associate producer for sports podcasts and provided play-by-play coverage for WUSR radio.
