Cleo Greene announced that she is leaving her weekend morning anchor position with WFAA 8 Dallas - Fort Worth due to her job position going away.
Her last newscast will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
Here is what Greene wrote on Instagram (watch her weekday WFAA Daybreak on-air goodbye video below):
"I want to be honest and transparent with you all. The future of local television news is changing. TEGNA (the company that owns channel 8 and many other stations across the country) is restructuring. Unfortunately, a decision was made to dissolve my position as the weekend morning anchor / reporter.
As you can imagine, I am heartbroken to say the least. This was my dream job! Seven years ... went by pretty fast.
It has been an honor to work with such a talented team and to share stories that matter — stories of people and organizations making a difference in our community. My hope is to continue that effort.
I'm also so thankful for the forever friendships that I’ve made in and outside of the newsroom.
I’m sad to turn this page, but I’m also really excited for what lies ahead and the new adventures that await. Call me crazy, but I still love this industry. Lol!
THANK YOU to everyone who has been rooting for me along the way. I believe God makes no mistakes, meaning every action is part of a divine plan. The BEST is yet to come!"
Weekend morning meteorologist Kyle Roberts also recently left WFAA.
Greene, a self-described military brat, joined WFAA in January 2018 from KSTP-TV 5 Eyewitness News in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area from February 2015 to January 2018 where she was a reporter.
Before that, she was a reporter at WBOC TV16 Salisbury, Maryland, from October 2011 to February 2015.
Earlier in her career, Greene was a WRDW News 12 / NBC 26 Augusta, Georgia, reporter from February 2011 to October 2011.
Greene landed her first broadcasting job as a feature reporter and anchor for PBS in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, from January 2009 to February 2011.
She attended Rowan University.
