Jarell Baker leaves 25 News KXXV Waco

Jarell Baker announced he left his weekend anchor role with 25 News KXXV Waco-Temple-Killeen.

"I think it’s finally starting to hit me that I left my job lol," Baker tweeted. "I want to thank everybody who made my last week at @25NewsKXXV  special! From organizing a kickball game, to goofy photos in studio and getting me a cake with wild “Florida Man” headlines on it. It was AMAZING!"

The cake's Florida headline comes from Baker being born and raised in Winter Haven, Florida.

Replacing Baker on the Good Morning Texas weekday team will be Heather Healy, the new "Neighborhood Reporter."

Baker joined 25 News in September 2020 as a multi-media journalist (MMJ) and was later promoted to weekend anchor in 2022.

In 2022, Baker won a Lone Star EMMY in the inaugural "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" category for his work on the "Uncovering Our History" special. According to Baker's bio, this marked one of only two EMMY awards KXXV received in its 40-year history.

He previously worked for WJHG 7 Panama City Beach, Florida, as a multimedia journalist (MMJ) and WTXL ABC 27 Tallahassee, Florida, as an MMJ/photographer.

His career in news began in 2016 when he worked as a TV producer for Polk County Government Television.

The Florida A&M University grad later obtained a master's in New Media Journalism from Full Sail University in 2015.
