After two years at KPRC 2, sports reporter/anchor Simone Eli is returning to Alabama.

"I've loved my time here and have created amazing relationships with folks at KPRC, but I am moving to be happier personally and continue my sports broadcasting career in Alabama (Birmingham/Tuscaloosa area)," Eli told mikemcguff.com. "I've yet to make a decision on some job offers but that'll be coming in the next couple weeks, as well."

Eli came to Houston and channel 2 from Fox 10 WALA Mobile, Alabama. Before that she worked as a TV play-by-play, color analyst and reporter for Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN).

No stranger to sports, Eli played basketball for Bowling Green State University's championship winning team that advanced to the Sweet 16.

"I just want to thank the city for welcoming me - the last two years have really been a lot of fun and full of incredible opportunities," Eli told me. "This decision comes after lots of thought and prayer, and I'm definitely excited about what's ahead personally and professionally in Alabama."

Eli's last day is next Tuesday.

So who's taking Eli's place? Well, KPRC newcomer Lainie Fritz just changed her twitter bio to Sports Reporter/Anchor.
