KHOU 11, Houston’s CBS affiliate, announced today that Darby Douglas will return to report the traffic on KHOU 11 News This Morning, beginning in early July. Douglas will help navigate Houstonians on their morning commute weekdays from 4:30-7 a.m. as the station’s traffic anchor.

“Darby is a one-of-a-kind guy, there’s nothing cookie cutter about him. He’s not just another morning traffic guy—Darby’s a storyteller. He loves weaving a personal yarn or two as he shares his wisdom on how to beat the latest freeway mess,” said KHOU 11 Executive News Director Phil Bruce. “That’s his passion, talking to people and being completely authentic in what he says and how he presents himself. After all these years on the air in Houston, Darby Douglas is a friendly voice and a familiar face viewers know they can count on. We’re looking forward to having him back in the KHOU Family.”

Douglas has over 28 years of radio and television experience, most recently holding the position of Assistant Director of Operations/Houston at Total Traffic Network. Douglas is also heard on the airwaves as the weekday afternoon traffic anchor as part of Clear Channel Media & Entertainment’s nine Houston stations.

Viewers may remember Douglas as the morning traffic reporter at KHOU, a post he held from 1996-2009. He was also voted “Houston's Ultimate Traffic Reporter” by the Houston Chronicle in 2005.

Douglas is a native Houstonian who graduated from Stratford High School and attended the University of Houston. In his down time, Douglas enjoys playing a round golf, watching college football and spending time with his family.

Katherine Whaley, who has been reporting the traffic since 2009, will continue as a reporter for the station. Whaley, the station’s resident foodie, has most recently been instrumental in the development of the popular Food Truck Fridays segment.
