KPRC 2's Frank Billingsley weds partner of 17 years

This year KPRC 2 has been no stranger to big weddings. Most notably anchor Dominique Sachse married Nick Florescu in May.

Now channel 2 viewers get another big one. It's chief meteorologist Frank Billingsley. Billingsley married Kevin Gilliard who he's been with for 17 years. The station says the two got hitched in New York City. The couple was married on 12/12/12. SEE PHOTOS

Click2Houston.com reports the wedding was held at the Eventi Hotel near the Empire State Building. It took place at 8:11pm. Why? The couple met August 11. There were close to 70 attendees including their son, Morgan.

"I think the nation is changing their attitude on the whole issue," Billingsley told the Houston Chronicle. "You will find them very different and much more accepting and supportive. This was really the best day of our lives. It was an affirmation that we wanted to make legally."

I've been pondering this and I think this makes Billingsley the most high profile TV personality in Houston to officially come out in a public way (and of course then get married since that is more of a recent possibility).

Over the years, Billingsley has been the Houston version of Anderson Cooper. Some people heard the rumors about his sexuality, but most probably didn't even think about it and just wanted him to tell them if a hurricane was coming our way.

The first time I heard about Billingsley being gay had to be from KLOL's Stevens and Pruett show in the 90s and they only indirectly talked about it. Much like Good Morning America's Sam Champion,  Billingsley addressed his sexuality directly with a marriage announcement.

According to his station bio, Billingsley was raised in Alabama, and came to work at KTRK 13 in 1989. He was the weekend meteorologist there. In 1995, Billingsley made the jump to KPRC 2 where he has been ever since. I remember he had a non-compete clause, so KPRC ran promos where they showed video of clouds and said something like "The Houston weather is about to become more Frank."

Congrats.

    2. Anonymous--you're wrong and you are a COWARD. Love is love. Furthermore, homosexuality has been a part of every culture going back to the beginning of time. Get over yourself. CONGRATS to Frank and Kevin!

the Bible says a lot of IGNORANT, STUPID THINGS,,,,.
for example - Leviticus 25:44 - owning slave permitted
Leviticus 20:9 - permission to kill your children
Leviticus 21:18-20 - permission to discriminate against the disabled
      and many more absurdities!

The Pilgrims came to America because they were tired of having a religious belief forced on them.
      Get the connection?

    2. It's a sin for two people of the same sex to get married. God does not approve of it. People may have changed, but God word is the same as it was yesterday, tomorrow and forever. And we all are going to have to answer for our actions. You can hate me for telling the truth all you want. But I'm just a messenger. The truth is right their in the Bible (Deuteronomy & Leviticus).

Linda Totty, I am a believer in God and I am also a believer in PROGRESS.

You are the abomination due to your festering hate and ignorance. Let me ask you this, you classless newt...when you had you first crush on a boy, did you CHOOSE it? Was it a "I like Henry and Abigail, and I choose Henry" or maybe perchance you, I dunno...just liked a boy because it came natural to you?

Gay men dont look at a room and have to pick to be gay that day. Its as natural to them as you liking a man as well.

BTW: If God created everyone in his image then God himself is 10% gay.

    1. God's Word doesn't change regardless of man's " progress ". It's still a " choice " one makes, you're not born gay. If that were the case, why would God call it an abomination ? Then when you stand before God you could say " you created me that way " which would make God a liar. We live in a sick nation, when good is evil, and evil is good. It's not hatred if you DISAGREE with someones lifestyle.

    2. You are born with your sexuality. This is a scientific and proven fact. Anyone that's disputing this is on the same line as Holocaust deniers.

    3. God, in the Bible, also says eating shrimp is a sin, and people who work on the sabbath are to be killed.
      Leviticus11:10
      Exodus 35:2

      How stupid!

  5. I think it was disgusting how the Houston Chronicle felt the need to re-run Dom Sachse's shameless and overhyped wedding article next to this story on Frank. When does her enormous ego get enough attention? Why try to overshadow Frank's day with a link to that nag?

    1. Agreed. No one cares about your second wedding or your first one for that matter you attention whore.

  6. If this is normal, I want to see them procreate. May GOD have mercy on us. I'm tired of homosexuals flaunting their sick lifestyle.

  7. Isn't there enough sadness in the world? Why can't we be happy for two kind, beautiful people who have found love and happiness? I am. Peace and love, Kevin's ex wife

  9. All humans will tie out. You uneducated twit. However, I do have the understanding of creation (God for you slow ones) and the THEORY of evolution. With that being said there are several circumstances where the sexuality is crossed and misunderstood. These are creatures of less intelligence than humans. For it to be portrayed in a open forum for all the community can see, I feel is horribly wrong. If Frank and Kevin wanted to "come out of the closet" then fine, tell your family and friends. Not on a family television station. This goes for the heterosexual people. Yes, it is a news station, but not reality sitcom. Believe in whichever you choose. Science or Religion is your choice, but to flaunt it gives every other human being their right to have their say as well.

    3. That's right...announce it to your family & friends, but Lord have mercy, don't be proud of it & announce it on T.V.. The station should not have announced it as if they agreed to what Frank is about. As far as I'm concerned, that is a sin. If God wanted to put 2 men together in creation, He would have done it.

  12. You go Mr. Billingsley and Mr. Gilliard! Coming out in such a public way to profess commitment and the joy closer bonds bring can only benefit everyone. My child only dreams of such a legal bond - but God willing, some day, not so far off, she will be right there in the state of Texas too. Love in any form is a gift. Homosexuality is not a choice, it's a normal part of life and will never be changed or eradicated by ignorance, Bible thumping, the Russians, or the Ayatollah. Those of you who think you are holier and therefore more correct because you were born heterosexual are seriously disconnected from reality and sadly, very sadly, capable of causing great harm to yourselves and others.

  13. Did you notice all the "BIBLE THUMPING HATERS" are "Anonymous"?
In my 53 years of experience, the people with the loudest voice against the rights of gay people are usually the ones deepest in the "closet."
How sad - because God loves everyone, and yes, he did indeed create gay people, who did not have a choice in their sexuality.

  15. It has not been proven that people are born gay, or straight. Why does it matter? What's wrong with saying, "I have CHOSEN to be gay", or "I've CHOSEN to be straight?"

    4. So, I guess that means you can't, right? For the record, It does not matter to me if people are gay, or straight. I just know that it has NOT been proven/disproven to be a fact.

  18. To each his own. I don't feel obligated to say hateful or hurtful things about other people. The Bible also says things like you shouldn't judge others and love your neighbor, but everyone always remembers the extreme views from anything. I'm not sure why people feel obligated to get on their computers and deliberately seek out places to spread hate.

  19. This is gross. God meant for woman and a man to be one; not two men or two women to be one. That is sick to see two males kissing each other and women kissing one another.Even my preacheer said so. But of course every religion has different beliefs. That man and woman are to be one.

    ReplyDelete
  20. being gay is so gross. why would anyone not like girls. choosing gayness goes against darwinism and every major religion. i was so sad to learn frank likes boys over girls. think about the hot chicks this guy couldve scored. now thats a sad waste of opportunity. homosexual men are bigots against womens rights.

  21. He can do what he wants. I do not care. I also no longer watch him. Choices have consequences.

  22. What s waste of men but as long as they are happy and know they are committing a sin then who cares but God. He will be the one to judge him. I personally don't think it's right since if we all were gay we would have stopped existing long tine ago. I believe in one man one woman relationship. So congrats even tho I know you're sinning. :) peace!

  23. Never knew he was gay.... or cared, as I watch the weather. All the rest is none of my concern. Knew he liked dogs, as he had Radar the weather dog...... I don't care what you are as long as you don't tell me I have to accept whatever it is you are. He's never to my knowledge done anything "outward" on the TV.... so let's just leave it as...he's Frank the Weatherman, and I'll respect him for that, because that's all I need to know of him, in reality.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Please worry about your own lives, and focus your energy on cleaning up your own backyards.....as I'm quite sure your NOT perfect. If they are happy...then great! Who are you to judge. Congrats to Frank :)

  25. As a budding Historian, I must say, it's pretty sad when folks decry a gay marriage based on a book that is over 2,000 years old, which most theologians will readily admit was composed centuries after the mythical events took place, and that most of it was authored by about a handful of people -- most of whom received their information orally centuries after the fact. As published material goes, that's a pretty lousy track record, and not something I would want to quote as "reliable."
