Houston summer camp directory book

Attention parents and journalists...maybe even both. The summer time is approaching and there is always a need for children's camp info. There is actually a book for that when it comes to Houston summer camps.

Sarah Gish has been compiling a list of Houston summer camps for years in The Summer Book: A Guide to Houston Day Camps and Classes for Kids and Teens. She just sent me the 2012 edition.

The book has info on camps ranging from robotics, opera, video game design, foreign languages, piano, soccer, surfing, chess and fashion design.

Almost 200 day camps and classes are listed in this unique guide, which is organized:
- Alphabetically
- By Category (arts, sports, religious, special needs and educational)
- By Age Group
- By Length (full day or half day)
- By Indoor or Outdoor facilities
- By Scholarships offered
- By camp Dates

“Every year that I edit the information it never ceases to amaze me the number of camps that have folded, changed or started," Gish said. "I feel lucky to be 'The Summer Camp Queen' who can keep up with all the changes and let my audience know about them through this guide. And, of course, I use it in mapping out my own kids’ summers!”

The reason I referenced journalists in the open is that I did a story with Gish in the past when I worked at KTRK 13 and she is full of info when it comes to this hot topic.

The book costs $12.95 and you can find out where to get a copy at thesummerbook.com CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
