89.3 KSBJ's Liz Jordan announces departure

There have been some big exits from 89.3 KSBJ in Houston over the last few months. First the Christian music station lost Susan O'Donnell of the “Morning Show with Mike and Susan” in July to her new role as the station's program director. Next Mike Kankelfritz of the same show recently departed for an Indianapolis station.

This week, we learned from an on air announcement that KSBJ afternoon personality Liz Jordan has decided to leave the station to be a full-time mother.

According to the station's website Jordan Leigh Kilgore was born on July 24th at 4:45pm, weighing 7.5 lbs and measuring 21 inches long. Jordan recently blogged about life as a new mother.

Jordan's station bio says the host is a native Houstonian who started in the evenings at the station in 2004. It goes on to say that Jordan's transparency has helped the host bond with listeners.

Jordan did say at the end of the announcement that she might return to the station one day.

Just more proof that KSBJ still does radio the right way, here is video of when Jordan's now husband, Houston filmmaker Donald Kilgore, proposed to her live on the air. In my opinion, the station really gave its listeners good radio with a touching moment (goes back to Jordan's proclivity for on air transparency).

  2. Liz is as real off the air as she is in person! Houston needs more local celebs like her!

  3. Thanks, Mike! It was really cool to see you feature Liz in such a positive light. And it made me happy to see that you see KSBJ as still doing "radio the right way." That's super encouraging! Sometimes it's hard, when you're on the inside looking out, to see what you look like to other people. I'm glad KSBJ is having such a positive impact. Yay! :)

  4. Just as an FYI, Mike left to host the morning show on a nation-wide network, K-LOVE. The studios where the morning show are broadcast from are located in Indianapolis. Yay & congrats to Liz & her husband for making a tough but important decision for their daughter!

  5. EMF's (KLOVE/AIR1) Main HQ is in Cali, but the morning show is broadcast from their secondary HQ in Indy.. Because KLOVE/ Air1 are nationwide to be on-air @ 6am in EST, the Morning show DJ's had to be on the radio in Cali @ 3am. KLOVE and AIR1 kept rotating Morning DJ's so they opened a secondary HQ in Indy, so their DJ's wouldn't have to be on the radio until 6am!

  8. more changes coming in the morning I hear- thank GOODNESS- I could not listen to it anymore since the present team took over. Hate to say it, but I just could not wake up to them in the morning. I just starting listening to my Christian CD's....please, for goodness sakes, get someone on air that is relatable. I hear that KSJ is the number one Christian Staion in the country....then they should have the VERY best morning team. Sorry if I come off as a hater - but as of today, sorry to say, they do not. I don't know of a single person who used to listen to the station, that does not feel the same as me. We just turned it off. Maybe it would be different if she let him talk more......ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    2. I loathe the morning show with Susan, she is very negative and stereotypes people on air. I have the cringes, i listen to 103.7 now.
