89.3 KSBJ’s Susan O'Donnell leaving morning show

UPDATE 2/28/2013
Susan O’Donnell leaves 89.3 KSBJ

89.3 KSBJ, Houston's Christian music radio outlet, has a big change coming. Turns out Susan O'Donnell of the “Morning Show with Mike and Susan” is leaving the show after 18 years of being on air at the station.

O'Donnell is stepping away from the microphone because of the other station gig she took last September...program director.

"While it is my joy to spend that time on air, I am realizing that the better spot for me now is to step fully into my role as the leader of the programming staff for KSBJ," O'Donnell said in an email announcement. "It’s a lot like when a teacher gets promoted to Principal to lead all classes instead of just one. I’m excited about what this new place of leadership will mean. And with this transition, I have made a decision that I believe will be the best for the future of the ministry."

According to her personal site, O'Donnell is also a stand up comic. She has performed at The Improv and also opened for secular entertainers like Johnny Rivers and Christian artists like Kathy Troccoli, Avalon, Bob Carlisle, Phillips Craig and Dean and Jackie Velasquez.

No word on when O'Donnell is actually leaving the mic to morning co-host Mike Kankelfritz.
