KHOU 11's new graphics and image spot

Yesterday KHOU 11 and KIAH 39 unleashed new branded looks on Houston (KPRC 2 introduced new news graphics last week).

"KHOU Stands for Houston" is the Houston Belo stations new slogan. I have contacted KHOU to see if this replaced longtime slogan "The Spirit of Texas" after receiving that question from readers.

In the meantime, here are screen captures using my camera phone (so it is not perfect) of KHOU's new news graphics and other stuff. Scroll below for the new image promo. The look was launched on Monday's noon newscast.

  1. The graphics are boring. The super's font are too small to read, and non-animated (which in my mind, makes it boring).

    I'm pretty disappointed.

  2. I'm glad to see a Houston station finally try a bold approach.

  3. KHOU's graphics look like they are from the 80's. The promo with the chorus is real gay. Who ever thought that was a good idea should retire.

  4. I really thought they had something special and unique with the blue and gold. The colors really defined them. Now they look like every other station with blue and red and unnecessary glassy 3D and lens flares. I'm kinda disappointed. I expected more from them.

  5. What bland and awful graphics... and the image itself is too soft and too boring. What's more sad is that this is KHOU we're talking about. And i hope they dont play that image music video after every newscast.
