Chris Baker off 950 KPRC schedule, new show times

All Chris Baker posts news

The Chris Baker and Houston Clear Channel soap opera continues right into 2011. It's been an on again, off again relationship for years. The latest is his mysterious disappearance from the 950 KPRC airwaves last November (still no comment from Baker or KPRC management on that after my request). How many tears of joy and pain will be shed?

Enough with my dramatic buildup, 950 KPRC posted on its Facebook page late Sunday night that its new programming schedule is starting Monday.

Hit us Monday morning to start your week and year off right. And set your watches and clocks to our new times. Happy 2011!

Go look at the new 950 KPRC Radio Mojo schedule page and Chris Baker is nowhere to be found. He's not listed anywhere as an on air host for the longtime Houston station either.

But we are used to this. It's not the first time the controversial talker has disappeared. Wait another few years and he'll probably be back. Last time he left Houston (he was a host on 740 KTRH at the time), Baker landed a gig at 100.3 KTLK-FM in Minneapolis. When he returned to Houston on 950 KPRC, it's no secret he was still working mornings for KTLK and actually doing his Houston show from Minneapolis.

This is not out of the norm. 950 KPRC morning man Joe Pags does this same thing only in reverse time wise. He does the Houston morning show from San Antonio and then a local afternoon show on Clear Channel flagship station 1200 WOAI.

If you are a fan of Baker, just wait, he could be back in Houston at any moment. In the meantime, still listen to him on the KTLK website or wait till he fills in for Glenn Beck on 740 KTRH.

As for the rest of the 2011 weekday 950 KPRC lineup (weekends look the same):

  1. wow, I am a CB fan and don't understand what the problem is, the guy is just plain talented. The 950 should want to have him on-board, surely their ratings wont improve with him gone. Cigar Dave show, really ????

  3. You can find Chris on the 100.3 FM in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

You just can not get him in your car while driving in the Houston area.

  4. KPRC has the talent of canceling very good shows, remember Glenn Beck and Pat Grey were both once on the station. Then some dumba** program director canned them.

  6. Yup, I think the fight is between Mike (who REALLY likes to be called Michael) Berry ans Chris.

Mike is the local "power house" who is controlling the competition by having it moved of Houston air.

Mike like to claim most favored radio show in Houston but that is only because there is squat to listen to...... including his sorry little show.

Given a fair chance, Chris would build a bigger crowd and put little Mikey back to fill-in where he really belongs.

Baker is actually good while Mike is contrived..... at best.....

Cut the Texas Thug and bring back the funny guy......

"How do you like them apples......BOOOOOYYYYYYYY!!!!!"

  8. 2/3/2011 Chris Baker has left News/Talk 100.3 FM to pursue other opportunities. We wish him great success in his future endeavors.

  9. I am in Minneapolis and really like Chris and was a regular listener on KTLK for his morning show.

Chris disappeared from the air last Thursday or Friday. Checked the KTLK website and they've scrubbed him from the site.

Seems you guys from Houston are used to this. I liked Chris and hope he does show up somewhere.
